Situata sull’estremità nord-occidentale dell’isola, nei pressi dell’omonimo paesino facente parte al comune di Malfa, la spiaggia di Pollara si estende sotto una ripida scogliera a forma di anfiteatro, caratterizzata da un litorale di sassi e ghiaia scuri ed è’ uno dei luoghi più affascinanti di tutte le Eolie.

A nord vi è la baia “Balate” chiusa dal Perciato , un promontorio dove sono visibili i magazzini e i rifugi scavati nel tufo. All’insenatura si accede tramite una ripida scalinata che attraversa la casa ormai denominata del Postino, in cui fu ambientato l’omonimo film. Il mare che la bagna è limpido e cristallino il cui fondale è costituito da un preistorico cratere sommerso di cui sono ben visibili i resti plasmati dal fuoco, dal vento e dal mare.

Da questa spiaggia è possibile ammirare lo spettacolare tramonto riconosciuto tra i più belli al mondo, il sole che assume un colore rosso intenso fa da sfondo alle spettacolari attrattive naturali . La spiaggia è raggiungibile tramite un sentiero scosceso e dista circa trenta minuti dal centro abitato i Pollara.

To the north is the "Balate" bay closed by Perciato, a promontory where the warehouses and shelters excavated in the tuff are visible. The creek is accessed via a steep staircase that crosses the now-called house of the Postino, where the film of the same name was set. The sea that bathes it is limpid and crystalline whose bottom is constituted by a prehistoric submerged crater of which the remains molded by fire, wind and sea are clearly visible.

From this beach you can admire the spectacular sunset, one of the most beautiful in the world, the sun that takes on an intense red color is the background to the spectacular natural attractions. The beach can be reached via a steep path and is about thirty minutes from the town of Pollara.
