L’Associazione Guide Turistiche Eolie Messina Taormina è formata da guide turistiche multilingue abilitate della Regione Siciliana che da molti anni lavorano nella propria terra con passione, preparazione e competenza.

L'associazione propone visite guidate di città, siti archeologici, musei per far scoprire la storia, la bellezza dei luoghi, le tradizioni.

Sin dal 2016, ogni estate, l'associazione organizza le visite guidate al cosiddetto Castello di Lipari: un “tuffo” nell’archeologia e non solo, alla scoperta dell’acropoli di Lipari. I tour si snodano tra gli scavi archeologici, il Museo Archeologico “L. Bernabò Brea” e la Cattedrale di San Bartolomeo, con chiostro normanno.

Un modo per far conoscere a turisti e residenti la storia millenaria dell’isola: passeggiando per l’acropoli si possono ripercorrere quasi 6000 anni di storia.

Le visite guidate svelano come le Isole Eolie già dal quinto millennio prima di Cristo fossero una base strategica: dall’età del Bronzo, ai resti del villaggio preistorico degli Ausoni, le stratificazioni mostrano le diverse civiltà fino all’arrivo delle popolazioni greche provenienti da Cnido e dall’isola di Rodi, accolte dagli abitanti del sito che si dichiarano discendenti del mitico Eolo. Infine nasce la colonia greca e poi romana di Lipàra, la cui ricchezza si legge nei ritrovamenti attraverso le sale del museo archeologico. Dall’archeologia subacquea, ai corredi funerari che mostrano il mondo quotidiano e oltremondano delle genti di Lipari, fino alla collezione unica al mondo delle maschere teatrali.

Oltre all’aspetto archeologico delle visite guidate, non si può trascurare il lato religioso e architettonico, infatti la Cattedrale di San Bartolo narra la profonda devozione che gli eoliani nutrono nei confronti del patrono.

Ma senza sottovalutare il meraviglioso chiostro medievale, un tesoro nascosto all’interno della chiesa.

The members of the association Guide Turistiche Eolie Messina Taormina are licensed tourist guides of the Regione Siciliana. The well-informed and experienced guides have been working with passion on Sicily for a long time, then they speak several foreign languages.

The members propose guided tours to cities, archaeological areas and museums in order to explain history, beauties and tradition of many landmarks.

Every summer the guided tour of the so called Castle on Lipari is proposed by the Association of Tourist Guide Eolie Messina Taormina since 2016.

Not only a stroll down Aeolian archaeology is suggested, but also the discovery of the Acropolis of Lipari.

This tour permits to know the millenary history of the island. Walking through the acropolis, people are guided aiming at the discovery of the archaeological area, the famous Museum "Luigi Bernabò Brea" together with the Cathedral of St.   Bartholomew and its cloister.

The guided visit allows to understand how the islands were a strategic trade place since the fifth millennium BC. Walking through the acropolis we can recall almost 6000 years of Lipari history. In 580 BC after the destruction of the Ausonian prehistoric villages, Lipari was occupied by some Greek populations coming from Cnidus and Rhodes. After that the local people declared themselves descendent from the right and hospitable Aeolus, lords of winds. So they decided to accept the new settlers. Later, there was the foundation of the Greek and Roman colony on Lipari, which became a wealthy place as we can understand by observing the collection inside the Museum: the underwater archaeology, the grave goods, which describe the ancient daily routine and the afterlife, and then the unique theatrical masks.

In addition to the archaeology, the guided tour focuses on religion and architecture, thanks to the Cathedral of St.  Bartholomew. The church shows the deep devotion of local people to the patron saint.
